    Here's my old 94 Rio Red GT KLZE. ruclips.net/video/p7vAGj8pe2o/видео.htmlsi=DaYvjSwgZQj8blFq LOVE these cars! I still miss my first as well. A 93 Wild Orchid GT. Only owned two, but they left such an impression on me that I would sell my soul to get another one. My 94 Rio Red 5 speed was my little baby Ferrari. And! You can put Ford fusion brakes on the front and they will bolt right up. They eliminated a lot of things as the years went on, like an actual functioning power seat I mean it was like eight way? And actual functioning oil pressure gauge, they got rid of a lot of things that it was on its way out of the production line at least for the second gens. They sure were a pain in the ass to work on. I'll never forget the time I had to do the tensioner on the timing belt, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. And the transmission housing is made of glass! They always crack. Get a tranny saver and a good launch and you shouldn't have a problem.

    Idk at what point it becomes "the reality of where you live is theres more mountains than people and so there will never be transit" instead of "dependency" though. Most of the vehicles in my life are doing what we would have done with horses back in the day and we havent gotten more populous or dense since. The horses that people still have get to have amazing lives and several days journey can now be done in less then an hour in some cases. City driving is asinine though and one thing that needs to be emphasized more is for how slow city driving really is in terms of average speed with the stop-go it's the most fuel inefficient driving it wears down engines more than anything and makes engines run at their dirtiest. Ive said for a long time that if we eliminated the 9 out of 10 vehicles in the cities that are only being used to transport one person we could have 50 cent/L gas (all the oil workers could probably take 3 years vacation before we use it all too), autos would fall to being a really low percentage of total emissions production, and the remaining necessary vehicles in the city could get around a lot more smoothly with less constant stopping and slowing and re accelerating therefore all more efficiently, cleaner and with less wear on them.

    I dislike driving mainly because of the traffic, the bad drivers on the road, and the poorly designed intersections. It just isn't fun when you have to deal with all of that all the time. It is obvious that we need public transportation infrastructure, and I think it starts in our cities where it is easier to build up a world class metro system that connects the city and its suburbs and allows people to get around easily without a car. I am most familiar with the Boston area, which has I-95 run a circle around the city and is about 10-15 miles from downtown Boston. The MBTA should have a priority to establish a system that allows a person to get from any point in that I-95 ring to any other point in the I-95 ring within an hour. If they could do that, many people would start taking public transportation. Some density is needed to do that in the suburbs, but that is where we should be heading in all our major cities. Then, the next priority is to link cities by light rail so that you can go from Boston to NYC in 2 hours or less, which would be half the time as driving and 1% of the stress. This is possible with high speed rail. We work out from there. Further, in city centers and most dense areas if we mandate bike lanes and pedestrian friendly infrastructure, we will make healthier communities that are safer to get around without a car. The key is to design it to make it hard to go more than 20-25mph in these areas using stop signs, sidewalk design, and prioritizing pedestrians and bikes. Also, this makes getting around by car slower and can shift preferences towards public transportation to go longer distances in a dense area. If we can slowly establish public transportation as a priority and build the density to make it work, we can take cars off the road, our infrastructure spending will be impactful by spending billions on moving people around faster rather than making little progress by expanding highways, and we can lower the amount of traffic so people who need to drive can drive with traffic only in city or town centers rather than everywhere.

    I'm shopping a bunch of folding bikes. The XP 3 appears to have the best mix of weight/power/speed/price without being too "tanky." So I'm calling this one the benchmark from which all other bikes are measured. Bro you really beat up that bike though! haha.

    As usual you deliver a great review. I bought a Himiway Cruiser bike about a year ago (very similar predecessor to the bike you reviewed) and I really love it. I am 6' and about 230 lbs and wanted a bike that I felt fit me. My bike is also about 80 lbs and while cumbersome to load and unload from my truck, it's well worth the effort. I'm able to ride bikes with my kids and never thought I would do that again. I'm a believer in this brand and it's a bargain in the class. Thanks for another great review.

    As a wagon fanatic: This isn't a wagon, and neither is the Outback. No D pillar on this, it's a blend of a hatch/CUV now. Both have more ground clearance than a Highlander, and these Wilderness ones are ride taller than a Tacoma. The Outback is a full SUV since 2014 riding on a different subframe than the Legacy. Both of these DWARF my 9⁵ Sportcombi and V60 T5.

    I'd disagree with the comment that e-bikes aren't for exercise. Drop the assist to 1 and it basically balances out the extra weight of the bike and you still get a good workout. It also enables you to bump up the assist for a big hill or a strong headwind, enabling exercise on windy days or hilly areas that might keep people at home otherwise. Maybe these heavy fat tires aren't ideal for it, but they'll work. I ride my Ride1Up 700 ST for both transportation and exercise (when it's too windy for the acoustic bike). Ride1Up makes some more normal exercise-focused bikes too - might be an interesting review for you. E-Bikes are just great all around. Glad you're doing these reviews!

    seems like this bike has normal tektro brakes with 1.8mm brake discs and a 2 piston brake caliper. on a bike this heavy especially if it is fully loaded it should have the 2.3mm discs with a 4 piston brake caliper😅

    • @HelloRoad
      @HelloRoad 5 дней назад

      It's interesting, I never felt like this bike was under-braked. But for sure if I weighed more, or if the bike was loaded up with cargo, or if I was dealing with huge hills it could behave differently. It seems like it's pretty common for most fat tire bikes at this price point do 2 piston calipers and 180mm rotors

    • @HelloRoad
      @HelloRoad 5 дней назад

      Though I have dealt with under-braked bikes! My Radwagon 4 weighs about the same as this Freedare, but it has pretty terrible cable-operated 180mm brakes. Gets pretty sketchy when loaded up. Need to upgrade for sure

    • @HelloRoad
      @HelloRoad 5 дней назад

      Yeah if the battery runs out on an 84 pound bike, it's not going to be that much fun to pedal! But honestly it's not too bad in low gear with Level 1 assist. I think most of these fat tire e-bikes are targeted at people who want comfort and speed, and not necessarily exercise.

  • @markhaley100
    @markhaley100 5 дней назад

    @HelloRoad only thing I don’t like about most E-bikes are they have big fat tires but the front forks they use aren’t any better for the extra weight, My friend had one and the forks snapped at the head point If your battery goes dead you have a long heavy ride home

    • @HelloRoad
      @HelloRoad 5 дней назад

      The front fork here seems a bit stronger than the one I have on my non-electric mountain bike, but I agree-fat-tire e-bikes add a lot of weight to the equation, especially if you've got a longer range battery! My mountain bike weighs about 30 pounds, most fat-tire e-bikes in this style are around 80.
